2014 Corbin Park Yard Sale (Jun 14)
This year’s Corbin Park Yard Sale is happening this Saturday, June 14, from 8am to 4pm.
That’s all the info we’ve got, though it’s pretty much all you need.
Korean Food Sale (Jun 13, Concurrent with the Farmers’ Market)
Spokane Hope Christian Reformed Church (스포켄 소망교회), which shares a building with Knox Presbyterian (806 W Knox), will be holding another Korean Food Sale this month. This time, however, they’ve scheduled it on Friday, June 13 — making it concurrent with the Emerson-Garfield Farmers’ Market at the same location. Typically the food sale has been held on the second Saturday.
They’ve also extended the hours of this popular fundraising sale from 11am to 7pm to coincide with the market and better serve both the lunch and dinner crowd.
This month’s menu includes bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef), jeyook-bokeum (spicy pork), gimbap (sushi), bibim-bap (an all-in-one meal), kimchi fried rice and potstickers.
They’re also running a bonus deal again. Order four meals and you’ll get a fifth one for free!

Materials for the June 11 EGNC Meeting
The Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council meets this Wednesday, June 11 at 7pm in the Corbin Senior Center (827 W Cleveland).
If you’ve been meaning to come to a neighborhood council meeting, make it this one. There’s not a ton on the agenda, so it’ll be short, but what is on the agenda consists of things like concerts, parties, and potlucks, so it’ll certainly be sweet. Anyone with an interest in Emerson-Garfield is welcome to attend.
SPD Ombudsman Tim Burns will be giving his annual report on police complaints (including, we suppose, the shooting at Maple/Grace), and Ben Covino of the Lands Council will be giving some advance warning to summertime fishermen and -women regarding river toxins in fish.
We’ll also be discussing a potentially larger role for Project Hope in the Emerson-Garfield Farmers’ Market, the presentation of the Neighborhood Plan on June 12, the status of the Concert in the Park/Summer Parkways collaboration, and the neighborhood-wide August potluck in Emerson Park. Whether or not the EGNC will take a break from meeting in July will also be determined.

Project Hope Looking to Hire Lawn Care Supervisor
Project Hope is looking to hire a supervisor for its West Central Lawn Care team starting immediately.
The West Central Lawn Care Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of West Central Lawn Care, including supervision of a crew of youth, aged 11-18, in all aspects of a lawn care business. The supervisor will provide all instruction that is necessary to the crew, will know how to operate all the required lawn care equipment, and represent Project Hope Spokane to West Central Lawn Care customers.
A few important notes and requirements:
- Position orientation begins immediately; position ends October 31
- 15-20 hours per week, 9-12am weekdays
- Position pays $10-12/hour, dependent on qualifications and experience
- Must have bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
- Must have experience managing, teaching, and leading youth
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a clean driving record
Working conditions are mostly outdoor, with substantial physical labor including the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and maneuver lawn care equipment.
