Summer Parkways returned to Emerson-Garfield last Friday evening. Streets around Corbin Park limited access to traffic to make way for people-powered transportation like bicycles and skateboards.
The park itself played host to vendors like Pizza Rita, LuLaRoe and The Scoop plus outreach tables for the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council, Spokane C.O.P.S., the Summer Parkways Staff, Washington Bikes, Spokane Public Montessori, Corbin Park Homeowners Association, Washington Trails Association, Faith Bible Church and others.
The E-G Neighborhood Council also held its Concert in the Park at the same time. A duet version of The Sara Brown Band played to a warmly receptive crowd that was spread out across the grass on blankets and folding chairs.
Below are some photos from the event, taken by the E-G Neighborhood Council’s very own Megan Kennedy of Rogue Heart Media.
Both the Summer Parkways crew and the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council were delighted with the participation and enthusiasm for this event, which had limited itself to the South Hill for the past few years. We’re already brainstorming ways to fine-tune and augment Summer Parkways when it returns to E-G next year!
