The annual Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Spring Cleanup is happening on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 9am to 12:30pm at Faith Bible Church (600 W Cora Ave).

This is a free neighborhood clean-up event for residents of Emerson Garfield neighborhood. It’s organized by the Emerson Garfield Neighborhood Council and hosted by Faith Bible Church.

The cleanup is a drive-through, drop-off format. Line up in your car or truck along Cora, then wait to be admitted and directed to the proper station. Once you’re there, volunteers will help you empty your vehicle.

Please don’t take the volunteers for granted. They are sacrificing their Saturday to provide hours of physical labor. If you are able to help offload your refuse, please do so.

Keep in mind that this is only for residential waste, not business or industrial waste, and there are only enough resources for Emerson-Garfield residents (click here for a map). You’ll need to bring some form of ID—like a driver’s license and a utility bill—to prove residency.

Guidelines for what can be disposed of:

• Trash: Your everyday junk/household trash, furniture and appliances (water heaters must be drained; no refrigerators/freezers); two (2) tire limit (rims must be removed). Mattress and box springs are allowed. Must break large items into smaller items (no large furniture). Items must be able to be lifted over an 8’ wall. Nails must be removed from wood.
• Clean green: Leaves and grass clippings (need to be bagged), sod less than 2″ thick, pine needles, pine cones, brush, limbs less than 3″ in diameter and less than 4 feet long. No rock, gravel, or animal feces.
• Metal recycling: Any mostly metal item, such as empty water heaters, stoves, washers/ dryers, lawnmowers (drained of oil).
• Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest: Will e-cycle your old computers, TVs, microwaves, and electronic gear- working or not. Other gently used items are accepted for their thrift stores.
• Not Accepted: The City can refuse to haul anything considered dangerous, hazardous, toxic, corrosive, or reactive including but not limited to items that contain Freon, fluorescent lighting tubing, compact fluorescent light bulbs or any mercury-containing lights. Paint, drywall and concrete will not be accepted.
