Photos from the Concert in the Park
Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council held its inaugural Concert in the Park on Sunday, July 28. The band Island Soul performed a fantastic, groove-filled set with plenty of new, updated, and classic tunes, and Smokin’ Rome’s was on hand serving up his delicious BBQ and soul food.
The event was everything that we’d hoped for a first-time event. It was well attended and there was a great neighborhood vibe. One unplanned bonus was that the slope of Emerson Park created a natural amphitheater.
Once again, we’d like to thank Zip’s on N. Monroe, Caffe Delicio, the West Central Association of Businesses and the Corbin Park Homeowners Association for their financial support that helped make this inaugural event possible. Hamilton Studio kindly loaned us use of their audio system for use at the concert, and that played a big part in the excellent sound.
As for EGNC members, the volunteer hours invested by Mallory Battista and especially Eline Helm were crucial to the success of the concert. Thanks to the generous donations of the concertgoers, we’ve already raised $300 toward next year’s Concert in the Park series. Reserve a spot on your calendars for summer 2014!
