Corbin Park Yard Sale, June 15

The annual Corbin Park Yard Sale will take place next Saturday, June 15.

That’s all the info we’ve got, unfortunately. We’re assuming that it will run — as in years past — from 9am to 4pm, rain or shine.

And, assuming other details remain the same, the participating homes will span the blocks between Division and Post [map] in Emerson-Garfield — which means streets like Waverly Place, Park Place, Cleveland and Euclid. They’ll be selling everything under the sun: antiques, collectibles, baby items, books, electronics, kitchenware, linen, glassware, tools, arts and crafts, CDs and DVDs, furniture, kids’ clothes and toys.

The early weather forecast looks promising: 80° and sunny.

Trinity Cow Plop Tomorrow (June 1)

The 23rd annual Trinity Catholic School [map] Cow Plop takes place tomorrow (that is, Saturday, June 1) from 11am to 4pm.

For the uninitiated, a cow plop lets cows do what cows do best while humans gamble on the deposits. The top prize is $3,100, and there are 50 more cash prizes to be won.

In addition to the live bovine bingo, there’s a street carnival with face painting, a mechanical bull, pony rides, arts and crafts, and pizza from Pizza Rita. The event is open to everyone, not just Trinity students, and is a great way to help raise funds for a neighborhood school.

Tossed & Found Barn Sale, May 25

Tossed & Found is going to be holding its third annual Barn Sale on Saturday, May 25. This is the event where one of N. Monroe’s most popular vintage stores closes off its parking lot and opens up its barn. It will run from 9am until 5pm and will be held in the rear parking lot of the building [map].

For the past two years, the Barn Sale has been a cornucopia of all things distressed, vintage, antique, and retro. Some third-party vendors take part and offer their wares in addition to Tossed and Found’s ample selection of furniture, trinkets, books, signs, tools, gewgaws, knickknacks, and nostalgia items.

Oh, and please don’t park at Waffles Plus. They’ll get surly and will tow.

Emerson Community Garden Work Day, May 18

The Emerson Community Garden will be holding its second work day of the season this Saturday (May 18) from 1-4pm. The garden is located at 3209 N. Madison [map].

Here are some of the things they have planned:

Finish roto-tilling the corn bed
Prepare the raspberry bed for new starts
Build and paint signs to mark the rows of plants
Plant seeds and starts

A lot got done during the first work day of the season, and the EGC members are hoping this Saturday will be equally fun and productive.
