C.O.P.S. Northeast Offers Operation Family ID Every Friday, 2pm-4pm

C.O.P.S. Northeast Offers Operation Family ID Every Friday, 2pm-4pm

The C.O.P.S. Shop for Northeast Spokane (Located at the Northeast Precinct 5124 E. Market St. Spokane) now offers Operation Family ID (OFID).

OFID is a program where volunteers take fingerprints, updated digital photos and other identifying information such as name, height, etc. about children or vulnerable adults with dementia or other disabilities.  This information is incredibly helpful to police in the event someone is lost or abducted.  Police send Amber or Silver Alerts for missing children or adults and dispatch as much relevant information as possible to ensure they are found quickly. Having current, accurate information about those we care for can make all the difference in the world in the critical first hours that someone is lost.

None of this information is kept or stored by Spokane C.O.P.S.  Everything is transferred to the parent or loved one for their storage.  In addition, a DNA Swab and container is provided in the ID kit.

Spokane Police and C.O.P.S. recommends all families bring their children and any other vulnerable adult to a C.O.P.S. Shop regularly to keep up to date information on file.

Call C.O.P.S. Northeast at 625-3343 for more details and to schedule an appointment.

Materials for the December 11 EGNC Meeting

Materials for the December 11 EGNC Meeting

It’s been a quiet month here on the blog, but that doesn’t mean that the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council has been any less active. In fact, the EGNC meets this Wednesday, December 11 for its annual holiday potluck at 6pm in the Corbin Senior Center. The meeting will follow at 7pm. If you live, work or own property in Emerson-Garfield, you’re invited to attend. Bring a dish!

This meeting has a few items on the agenda, the most pressing being the neglected city property along N. Maple that becomes a dust bowl in the summer. We’ll also be discussing the Police Ombudsman and Community Assembly recommendation regarding the current draft agreement. Planning head Megan Kennedy has also asked to present the results of the two planning workshops.

We look forward to seeing you there!
