As was mentioned in the last EGNC meeting, there is currently an open position for a Transportation Commission Liaison. More information below, from Annie Deasy, City of Spokane staff liaison to the Liaison Committee.
At its meeting last week the Community Assembly authorized its available liaison position on Spokane’s new Transportation Commission.
Applications for this position will be accepted by the Liaison Committee until Friday, Nov. 22.
Neighborhood council members interested in this position can download the application and the reference material at this city web address on the right side under Items of Interest.

As many of you know, Katie Joy is once again hard at work to organize anotherCorbin Park Tree Lightingevent, which will no doubt be even more dazzling than last year. As she mentioned at the recent council meeting, there is a safety need to install a permanent outlet in the park, and with impending frost, there is a very tight timeline to get this work done. The Urban Forestry department is donating their time and Electric City has been incredibly kind to come out quickly to make a fast bid & will discount their electrical work. Here’s the message from Katie Joy:
Hey neighbors! We are getting closer to making this tree lighting an annual event but we have hit a bigger financial need than expected & need your support! Our girl Emerald (my daughter’s nickname for the tree), needs a permanent electrical setup to keep things safe.
In order to make the tree lighting happen this year, we need to raise $6,000 in the next 2.5 weeks. Any businesses donating can come promote at the event, in different ways depending upon the tier of their donation-
💚💚💚💚💚$1,050+ EMERALD tier = You will be promoted on the event page, be allowed to hand out fliers, publicly thanked at the event & you will be allowed to have a table at the event.
*Money can be dropped off at Spokane City Credit Union on Monroe and checks should be made out to “North Monroe Business District Tree”.

With summer coming to a close, the kids back in school, and soup season just on the horizon; are you looking for new and interesting ways to participate in your community? Here is a wonderful upcoming opportunity!
Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Spokane Fire Department Training Center (1618 N Rebecca St.), this FREE event is for Spokane neighbors to gather together; learn alongside one another; and grow practices in their neighborhood councils.
Local leaders will provide valuable resources during workshops relative to the needs of Spokane neighborhoods. So, if you are the type of person who loves to learn about new topics, exchange best practices, meet new people, or be inspired by efforts in the community, then this event is a must to attend.
The Summit is open to any current or aspiring member of a Spokane neighborhood council. Capacity for the Summit will be capped at 80 participants so be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible. There is no maximum number of members who can attend from any given neighborhood council, so be sure to loop in your fellow neighbors. A catered lunch will be served at the event.
