The West Central Community Center (1603 N. Belt) will be hosting its Building Dreams charity event on Saturday, May 10 at 6pm. Building Dreams is a really fun and worthwhile concept. It began last year as Project Playhouse Spokane, whereby members of the Spokane Home Builders Association designed, built and donated twelve children’s playhouses. Roughly one dozen volunteers turned out today for the tree-planting event on N. Maple street. Representatives from the Office of Neighborhood Services and Spokane Urban Forestry were there to lend a hand, and Nancy MacKerrow of The Susie Forest attended with cookies and “treegrams” to allow the planters’ wishes to flourish along with the trees.
