Spring Cleanup
Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council organizes an annual Spring Cleanup event where residents are able to dispose of—free of charge—the following:
- Clean green: Bagged grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, etc. Branches must be less than 3″ in diameter and under 6′ in length. No sod, rock, gravel or animal feces.
- Refuse: Everyday junk. No food items, drywall, concrete or nail-embedded wood. All items must be in small, manageable pieces. No large furniture or mattresses.
- Recycling: Any mostly metal item, such as empty water heaters, stoves, washers/dryers, lawnmowers (drained of oil) or microwaves.
- Salvation Army: Donations of clothing and furniture. You can also e-cycle your old computers, TVs and electronic gear.
In 2024 Spring Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th.
Spring Cleanup is held in the lot adjacent to Faith Bible Church (600 W Cora Ave) and runs from 9am to 12pm. Prior to the event, a neighborhood-wide postcard mailing with additional information goes out as a reminder, typically sometime in April.
If you have questions about Spring Cleanup, or would like to volunteer, please contact us. Jeff is the new clean up coordinator and can be reached via at dinosaurdesign55@gmail.com or by phone at (509) 294-0055.
Some dump passes for the Spokane Regional Solid Waste Facility are available at the Spring Cleanup event. Residents who drop off waste will sometimes be asked to fill out a short Community Development survey to address areas of priority to the neighborhood.
During market season (roughly June through September), a limited number of free dump passes will also be available to Emerson-Garfield residents on select dates at the Emerson-Garfield Farmers’ Market.
