About Emerson-Garfield’s Concerts in the Park

The Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council launched its Concerts in the Park series in 2013. The first-ever concert took place on Sunday, July 28 of that year in Emerson Park. The R&B/soul band Island Soul performed, and Smokin’ Rome’s food truck was on hand to serve up his delicious BBQ and soul food.

The 2014 Concert in the Park was held on Friday, July 18 in Corbin Park. It was planned to coincide with the larger Summer Parkways street party at the same time and location. The featured musician was The Sara Brown Band.

In 2015, the Concert in the Park was held on Sunday, August 2 in Emerson Park. The band Broken Whistle performed.

In 2016, the Concert in the Park was held on Sunday, August 7 in Corbin Park. Rachel Bade-McMurphy and her ensemble The Imagine Collective performed.

In 2017, the Concert in the Park was held on Sunday, August 13 in Emerson Park. The band Buffalo Jones performed.

In 2018, the Concert in the Park was cancelled due to poor air quality.

If your band is interested in performing, your food truck would like to serve at the event, or you would like to contribute a donation to cover expenses (such as event insurance, permits, band fees), please get in touch with at emersongarfield@gmail.com.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic items as well as friends and family.
